Clinic 2018 - An amazing Two-Day Event!
Well, the 2018 clinic is now in the books. The signage is down, the rooms are cleaned up, and the boxes are packed away. But....what we all took away will impact our programs for years to come.
Here is a brief review of what was the 2018 IFCA Coaches Clinic
Upon arriving, coaches found the conference center in Altoona ready to roll! Vendors lined the hallways as far as they eye could see and had some pretty nice looking "candy" out there to entice coaches to come and visit them. Thanks to all those vendors who supported us - you are a huge part of the clinic success.
It is hard to imagine Friday being any better start! Northern Iowa, Iowa State, Iowa, and St. Thomas all had staff presentations throughout the day. Head coaches Kirk Ferentz, Matt Campbell, and Mark Farley each had their turn on the big stage and presented to a full house.
At 2:00, local sports radio show "Murph and Andy" arrived and did a live broadcast from the conference center and had the chance to speak with many different coaches. What a great surprise to have these guys out to give you event even more local coverage.
The IFCA Awards Dinner was a great success as well. We honored many coaches for their efforts on and off the field from the past year, as well as many of those who support high school football with the Distinguished Service Award. With over 215 people in attendance, it was the most successful Awards Dinner to date. Make you plans today to attend next year!
After the dinner, Coach Chris Ash from Rutgers Football addressed the audience and did an outstanding job! We enjoyed having Coach Ash back in Iowa for a couple days!
Finally, the mini-clinics wrapped up day one and once again, they were a big hit!
As Day two started, coaches enjoyed a great breakfast before getting started with "Championship Saturday" - a jam packed day of state title game coaches from Iowa and the surrounding states. It had to be one of the best Saturday lineups that we have ever seen. In addition to these coaches, we had a chance to hear from kicking specialist Ron Coluzzi, Ethan Miller talked about Leadership, and USA Football showed us the latest in teaching techniques of blocking and tackling.
Overall, it was a AMAZING weekend of football. A huge shout out goes out to Iowa Football, Iowa State Football and UNI Football for their support. All the speakers and other colleges who attended and participated, and we cannot forget ACE Fundraising. Without the support of these guys and their vision of what this partnership can be - none of the great things from this weekend are possible.
We hope you enjoyed the clinic this year. We are already throwing around ideas for 2019 and doing our best to continue to find ways to bring you the very best clinic experience.
